Low carb is not just for people wanting to lose weight. It’s a lifestyle, one that seeks to cut out the unnecessary sugar added to food that only harms you over time. The first thing people think of is bread. Oh they can’t live without bread. I completely agree. If you are eating low carb in general, sticking with the more dense, dark and whole grain versions of bread will most likely be ok for you. If you are eating low carb to also cut a few pounds, you need to cut it out almost completely. It doesn’t have to be forever, just until you reach your goal and then switch to the darker, whole grain versions. Regardless of what you are doing, we would all be a little healthier if we cut out some of the bread we consume.
When I am cutting back to lose weight, I either don’t eat bread at all or I buy a substitute. Right now I’m using both a low carb and Paleo bread from Julian’s bakery. Is it delicious? Hell no, I’d rather be eating a Ho Ho, that’s for sure. Will it do? Sure. The bread has a sort of egg like texture, not something I’m a fan of but again, when you need a substitute this will do.
It allows me to have a favorite comfort food, grilled cheese and tomato. If you like those little wedges of laughing cow cheese, spread one of those one and add a slice of your favorite cheese. It’s a delicious combination.
You will never eat this bread quickly. It’s not one of those thing you go running to in the middle of the night because you crave it. Buy a pack, put it in the freezer and pull out a few slices at a time. There are alot of possibilities. I’m thinking I’m going to break it down and use it like a bread crumb as it seems to toast nicely. I’ll let you know if that is a success. If you have used this type of bread, I would love to hear ideas on how to best utilize it!
