We’ve seen some pretty cold days this week. Real temps pushing negative 20. Wind chill temps near negative 50. Get caught out unprepared and it can kill you within 30 minutes. As impressive as these numbers are, this kind of cold does not last long. Today we are in the high 20’s and will be in the 30’s for the rest of the week. After temps in the negatives, that really does feel kind of warm.
This fresh water tank which holds millions of gallons and serves the local communities sits between the quiet little town of Alexander and Williston. It clearly leaked over during this recent extreme cold snap and the sight is impressive. The piece of machinery you see in front is frozen to the ground. The ground along it was both slick and jagged with huge chunks of ice just frozen into place. Very unforgiving chunks of ice I might add. I dared not get closer.
