Typically I’m a freak about polish stoneware. It’s just about the only thing I use in my kitchen. With that being said, one of my favorite stores is Williams and Sonoma. We don’t have one here (of course) but I did find this little kitchen store downtown called Cooks on Main.
It’s small and stuffed with goodies. It’s no Williams and Sonoma but for this little town, it has all sorts of things that make me happy. Well, except for the tortilla press I was looking for. I did find a baker that I bought. This is unusual for me since I typically stick with just the polish stoneware but it was my favorite color and I found a matching placemat. Now I just have to decide what to make in it. It’s nice and deep and has cute little handles.
I almost bought some little Le Creuset pots but put them back when I saw the made in China sticker. I won’t buy anything that I eat off of or cook with if it’s made in China. It’s not because of jobs going overseas but rather their continual and blatant disregard for our laws, our patents, our businesses and our health. I cannot trust that the paint or glaze does not contain lead or other dangerous chemicals like cadmium. (removing myself from soap box now….)
If you find yourself in this area, take a peak. Even if it’s not expensive cookware that you’re after, there are lots of little kitchen gadgets that will make everyone happy.
