If I haven’t already mentioned it, I’m a food snob. It’s not that I won’t eat things that are “bad” for you because I certainly do but rather I’m picky about where and what I buy. It doesn’t always make sense. I won’t buy produce from Walmart (can you say Monsanto?) but I’ll drink diet mountain dew knowing full well the vile things that are in it (look up BVO). It took us five days on the road to get here. I have traveled across this country many times but this was a tough trip. Maybe it’s because I’m older and my ass hurts after 12 hours of sitting in a car, who can say. One of the first things you hear about if you start talking about moving here is what it costs to live. Why people will charge you 50,000 a month in rent! This coming from people who have never been here. It is expensive, yes. But I would like to put things into perspective for a family coming here. Single people will be paying much less in regards to rent and often times they might find company housing or their per diem will pay for their rent. You have to remember too that most families are coming here because they just are not making it back home. Maybe they are making it but they are one disaster away from bankruptcy. Shopping is NOT fun here. I repeat… oh never mind, you get the point. The worst thing for me is that there are no fun places to shop. I’m not a big spender when it comes to just buying superfulous stuff. I like to window shop though and you can’t do that here. Walmart doesn’t count. There are no malls, and very very few mom and pop stores. I can see I’m going ot have to travel into Canada soon to find something to look at. [Read more…] about Walmart in Williston
